The Face of Hunger is Changing

An estimated 45% of those currently seeking food assistance in the region are working

The Atlanta Community Food Bank’s network of nonprofit partner agencies serves approximately 42,000 people each week, and our agencies say the numbers are growing. They also report that their clientele is changing. More and more often, the person seeking food assistance has a job, but cannot make ends meet with the rising cost of living.  Food Bank Executive Director Bill Bolling was featured in the AJC's series on rising food costs - read it here.

Congress Overrides Farm Bill Veto

Little Girl EatingEven with the current economic conditions, we have good news.  The Nutrition Title of the Farm Bill is law!  The new Farm Bill will provide substantial increases in vital nutrition programs and much greater access to food stamps. We celebrate this tremendous step towards an end to domestic hunger, and we thank those who advocated on behalf of this critical legislation. Learn exactly what the Farm Bill's Nutrition Title will do for millions of Americans who need help.

 

Dream to End Hunger

 

Atlanta DreamFans attending the June 13th WNBA Atlanta Dream game are encouraged to participate in a food drive benefiting ACFB. Food and monetary donations will be collected at all gates prior to the game at Philips Arena. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.  Purchase tickets with Atlanta Dream and learn more about their commitment to community.

 

Volunteers are needed to assist in collecting food from the fans at the game. Get all the details about this exciting volunteer opportunity!
